Q:   Will the street be all concrete or asphalt?

A:   We are currently conducting a geotechnical analysis to determine the appropriate paving section for the project. We will make a design recommendation to the City for approval. We anticipate using a concrete paving section with monolithic curbs.

Q:   Will alley be cut down and drained when paved?

A:   The design will include an inverted crown section to accommodate drainage to the alley. The profile of the existing alleys may be lowered in order to facilitate lot drainage.

Q:   Will alleys be done before curb and drain work for Main Street?

A:   A construction sequencing plan has not yet been prepared. We will brief the stakeholders and gather feedback on the proposed plan prior to construction beginning. It is our intention a this time to construct that alleys and some of the connector streets prior to the Main Street paving work to facilitate access during construction. However, the first work done on the project will be the utility lines. This will be done in Main Street prior to the alley construction.

Q:   Are we loosing any protection or benefits by TXDOT transferring the road to the City?

A:   The City will follow a process for right-of-way acquisition which is very similar to TXDOT's. The City wants to keep the businesses along Main Street and is looking forward to working with the stakeholders throughout this project.

Q:   Why is TXDOT coming to our businesses asking questions?

A:   We do not know why TXDOT would have visited your business to make inquiries.

Q:   We need assurance for businesses that have leases up for renewal prior to and during the construction phase that they will still be able to do business.

A:   We are currently developing a plan for replacement of existing parking spaces that will be impacted by the construction. It is the City's intention to replace existing parking that is in conflict with the improvements with new parking either on-street or in an off-site lot. This project will not address parking issues associated with future land uses. We are in the process of developing the plan and, your input would be appreciated.
