Who is developing the recreation center? |

The Cedar Hill Recreation Center is a joint project of the Cedar Hill Community Development Corporation (CDC) and the City of Cedar Hill. The project is being administered by the City Council, CDC, and Parks Board. It will be operated by the City of Cedar Hill Parks & Recreation Department. The firm Freese & Nichols is providing project management services, and F & S Partners is the Architect and Cadence McShane is the general contractor. |

Where will the recreation center be located? |

The Cedar Hill Recreation Center will include approximately 25 acres, and is located near the south east intersection of Parkerville Road/ South Clark Road, in Cedar Hill, Texas. Signs marking the site as the future home of the recreation center are in place. |

What facilities will be included in the Recreation Center? |

Based on public input from the Citizens of Cedar Hill, amenities will include a walking track, gymnasium(s), locker and changing areas, teen area, classrooms and banquet facilities, meeting facilities, a child care facility, and cardiovascular fitness area. |

Indoor aquatic facilities will be included in a second phase at a later date. |

How much will the recreation center cost? |
| A. |
Total project cost, including construction, land acquisition, design and management services, site development and furnishings is estimated to be between $7 and $8 million. |

The first phase of the center will encompass over 54,000 sq. ft. A future second phase indoor aquatics facility of approximately 30,000 sq. ft. is also planned. |

How will the construction of the recreation center be paid for? |

The Cedar Hill Community Development Corporation (CDC) will pay for the project with proceeds from the ½ cent sales tax for community development (4 b sales tax). This tax was approved by the citizens of Cedar Hill in 1994 and has been utilized to build a variety of public development projects, such as Valley Ridge Park, expanded library collections, and downtown revitalization. A recreation center was listed as a core project when the tax was adopted. An additional property tax to pay for the construction of the recreation center is not necessary. |
