The City of Dallas has contracted Freese and Nichols, Inc. to design and provide construction management services for the Elm Fork Flood Protection Project. The project is the preferred alternative based on findings from the Elm Fork Floodplain Management Study, as prepared by Freese and Nichols, Inc. and as adopted in October 2003. The primary goal of the project is to provide flood protection from the Elm Fork for approximately 475 acres of primarily developed industrial land within the Daniels Creek watershed.

The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department and Freese and Nichols are currently developing a master plan for a 160 acre soccer complex located southwest of the intersection of Walnut Hill Drive and I-35E. The master plan will incorporate youth and adult soccer fields in a layout that provides; centralized parking that is convienient to all fields, restrooms, concessions, and storage facilities, a perimeter nature trail, and irrigation and lighting for all of the fields.

Freese and Nichols is designing roadway and utility improvements for Turtle Creek boulevard Between Levee Street and Market Center Boulevard. The improvements will include replacing the existing roadways with new concrete streets with curb and gutter drainage and replacing the water and sanitary sewer lines within the project limits. The roadway alignments at the intersection with Industrial Boulevard and Market Center Boulevard are also being improved as part of this project.

The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department and Freese and Nichols are currently developing a master plan for the Coombs Creek Trail and Stevens Park Golf Course. This project will enhance and promote the continual preservation and revitalization of this historical Oak Cliff neighborhood. The proposed Coombs Creek Trail alignment from the Trinity Levee Trail through Stevens Park Golf Course is currently being studied.

The integrated Storm Water Management (iSWM) Design Manual for Site Development was developed through the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in January of 2006. Freese and Nichols, Inc. is currently updating the existing City of Dallas drainage criteria by implementing the iSWM Manual.
The iSWM Manual includes design standards and tools that can be used to address the quality and quantity of storm water runoff on and from development sites.
