Project Summary:

The integrated Storm Water Management (iSWM) Design Manual for Site Development was developed through the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in January of 2006. Freese and Nichols, Inc. is currently updating the existing City of Dallas drainage criteria by implementing the iSWM Manual.

The iSWM Manual includes design standards and tools that can be used to address the quality and quantity of storm water runoff on and from development sites. The manual was developed by NCTCOG to guide developers and governmental agencies on the control and management of storm water at all stages of a development project.

The objective of this project is to update the existing City of Dallas Storm Water Design Criteria Manual to incorporate the criteria included in the iSWM Manual. This will be achieved by creating a Local Criteria document which will be added to the iSWM Manual. The Local Criteria includes standards and development processes that are specific to the City of Dallas. A draft version of the Local Criteria is available for public review on the Public Documents page. Developers and other public and private entities are strongly encouraged to review this document and provide their input by visiting the Public Input page.

The full city council briefing for iSWM is tentatively scheduled to take place on Nov 18, 2009. This item is tentatively scheduled to be on Dec 9, 2009 City Council agenda for consideration.
